Things i wish i didn't have to memorise

1) The fact that too much Th1 causes autoimmune diseases, and too much Th2 causes lotsa atopies... and blah blah...

2) 27% of lil kids are allergic to birds nest... and can get asthma from it. The mechanism... cross-linkage to a mast cell by a multivalent hapten. Moral of the story... stick to simple stuff for the lil ones... dun waste money.

3) Allergies range from eczema to food allergies to asthma, to allergic rhino-conjunctivitis to anaphylaxis. If you sway sway kena one... you prob kena some more.

4) We pick out the above by pricking ppl's nice skin, by doing RAST which is not better than the skin prick and i dun noe stands for what... and lastly by making the lil kiddo take all kids of foods. We then watch the lil kid to see if his face and tongue swells so much that he can't breathe. Then we do a rescue with IV adrenaline and steroids... and anti histamines... of course we hope it doesn't come to that.

5) If you got eczema... pimecrolimus is good stuff. That's the good news. The bad news is that it's not available so i dun noe why i am memorising this!! Why is this in the notes!

6) SLE: Autoimmune disease that causes a butterfly rash on the face of gals that can look kinda cute. But to have SLE, they must also have 7 out of the following 11: malar rash, discoid rash, photosentitivity, oral/nasal ulcerations, arthritis, nephritis, CNS involvement, serositis, cytopenia, ANA positive and positive immunoserology... anti dsDNA +ve or anti SM +ve.

7) Treatment for SLE: NSAIds>hydroxycholoroquine for joints and skin>steroids>aZt,CSA,CPA.
